Weāre a team of passionate and professional developers whoāve worked with some of the biggest companies in the world. But what truly sets us apart is not just our technical background - it's our obsession with escape rooms.
Weāve been escape room owners, builders, consultants, and yes - players too. Between us, weāve played over 300 escape rooms across Europe, always on the hunt for creativity, storytelling, and heart. Weāve acted in games, designed rooms that were sold abroad, and even had our experiences nominated for TERPECA.
Weāre not outsiders building tools for a market we donāt understand. Weāre insiders who know exactly what makes this industry tick.
The idea for Keyhowl came in 2020, during our time running our own escape rooms. Like many others, we were frustrated by the lack of proper software made specifically for escape rooms. The tools out there were generic, buggy, and simply didnāt fit the way we worked.
So we built our own.
Keyhowl started as an internal tool - just something that worked exactly how we needed it to. It didnāt take long before other local escape room owners saw it and asked if they could use it too. Thatās when we realized this wasnāt just a local problem. It was an industry-wide gap.
After selling our escape rooms, we focused entirely on turning Keyhowl into the platform we wished existed from the start - and the one we now proudly offer to escape rooms everywhere.
We chose Keyhowl as our name because itās memorable. Itās a play on the word ākeyholeā and āowlā, which is such a cool and mysterious animal. Keyhowl [ĖkiĖ.hÉŹl] is pronounced the same as ākeyholeā.
Keyhowl is built by an indie software engineering team. Behind the scenes, we heavily rely on experienced people like Engineering Managers, Product Managers, Front-end and Back-end developers, QA Engineers and Electrical Engineers.
Everyone on our team brings serious professional experience and an escape room mindset. We're a rare mix of people who care about both code quality and the player experience.
We started in Bulgaria, but our sights are now set on Europe and beyond. Weāre actively expanding across the continent and plan to enter the U.S. market by Q2 of 2026.
Growth is exciting, but we never lose sight of what matters most: helping escape room owners succeed. Every decision we make is rooted in that mission.
Weāve been in your shoes. Thatās why everything we design reflects the real challenges escape rooms face.
We obsess over the details so you donāt have to. Smooth operations, happy staff, and better bookings.
Your system canāt go down in the middle of a busy Saturday. We treat stability as a core feature, not an afterthought.
We actually listen. Feature suggestions arenāt ignored - they help shape the roadmap.
Weāre genuinely passionate about escape rooms, and that drives everything we do. But weāre also building a business we believe in - one thatās sustainable and will allow us to work full-time in the industry we love.
Because we love escape rooms.
Weāve met incredible owners who pour their hearts into building immersive experiences. Weāve seen teams come out of a game laughing, inspired, or moved. Weāve seen what this industry can be - and we want to help it thrive.
Keyhowl is our way of giving back. Of supporting the creators, the dreamers, and the problem-solvers who make escape rooms what they are.
